You have a newborn baby!! It’s so exciting and exhausting at the same time, now you have to know that it is going to take a little while to fall into a routine, so before that happens you will want your life and the person who might be helping you to be a little stress-free and easy.

I would like to share the things I have done and found very useful.

So here I am to help you out in keeping your sanity and making your life easier with what in my experience was essential when I had both my babies.

3 necessities for sanity with a newborn baby

1. Rescue basket for baby’s helpers

I call it a rescue basket because it is going to have all the things you will need for rescuing. you will have to make multiple baskets, for every place in your home where you are going to have the baby with you.

There were many moments I wished I was spider man because what I wanted was far away and I didn’t want to disturb the baby. I had actually stretched my foot to get to the towel and used my toes to hold it and get to me.

Whether you have decided to breastfeed the baby or bottle feed, mother’s milk, or formula there are going to be spit-ups, vomits. Sometimes even a leaky diaper you did not fasten tight enough, at moments like those you will want to have wet wipes or a tissue roll near you.

Organizer Baskets like these will help you, the best part is you can use it when your baby has grown up for something else.

Things you will need to assemble this rescue basket:

  1. A Storage Basket

You will need a storage basket to store all of the items for this rescue basket.

  1. Wet Wipes

Buying multiple packs is going to last long. I absolutely LOVE these wipes. they are water-based and don’t dry out fast like the other ones I’ve tried.

I bought a pack of 5 which lasted about 1 and half month.

It’s been almost 6 months since I last used them and they are still as good as new.

There is half a packet left which i use as my makeup removing wipes.

  1. Diapers

Now buying newborn size is going to go to waste because your baby is going to outgrow that size in a week or two so, small size is good for now.

  1. Lotion

A lotion is necessary because the baby’s skin was in the amniotic fluid since inception,so it tends to get dry easily hence using a baby lotion is necessary.

I used baby SOFTSENS lotion, it is very baby skin friendly.

There are times when I still use it for both my 6 year-old and 17 month-old.

There was no need for me to use any baby rash cream either, I didn’t feel the need to because this lotion did the job to perfection.

  1. Wash clothes/baby towels

Lots of them- trust me!! there are never enough baby towels EVER.

These baby towels come in a pack of 7 and as soft as a baby’s butt.

Handy when there are spit ups and vomits.

  1. A change of clothes

Remember the spit up, vomit and leaky diaper?! Yeah, this is going to help.

Having an extra pair of outfits will save you from a sprint to the baby’s closet.

7. A bottle of gripe water

As a mother of two I would advice you to keep gripe water or a colic aid handy. I made my own gripe water for my kids and it paid off well.

A natural chemical-free, preservative-free solution. This simple gripe water will keep your baby colic free and won’t interfere with your baby’s maturing digestive system You can go through this post where I’ve written the method to make it.

2. Water/ Juice / Snack

Using cups or bottles with lids for keeping water or juice or tea is best. We don’t want more mess than it already is so… yeah

A snack by your side is necessary as everything else.

You are going to spend a lot of time with a baby on your arm, if you have opted to breastfeed then you have to keep your energy up.

Having a snack on hand will save you a trip to the kitchen, or save you

3. Entertainment

Well this one’s an obvious one, isn’t it? You can’t be sitting idle for all the hours you are going to be spending with the baby on your hands, you are going to need some kind of entertainment.

If you are a love-the-smell-of-books kinda person – got something for you too :

Now you are ready to take on the world with your newborn baby!!!

Would love to know if this list was helpful. please do leave a comment.

Have a great day!!!
